Stop Procrastinating.
1. Start with the smallest step possible.
Starting
is hard.
Don't
make it harder.
Find
the smallest possible task you can start with to get your momentum going.
These
will act as the first domino.
2. Use the 5-Minute Rule.
Make
a vow to work on the task at hand for only 5 minutes.
If
after the 5 minutes you want to quit, and then quit. Most likely, you will continue
now that you've gotten over the initial hurdle.
3. Set a deadline.
Whether
real or fake, a deadline can be a powerful tool to battle the procrastination
monster.
Make
a deadline with yourself to complete the task, make it public to add more
accountability.
4. Change your environment.
Are
you trying to work from your bedroom?
A
place where you sleep and relax may not set the mood for work.
Shake
up your environment.
Have
a room dedicated to working.
Go
to a cafe and work with a friend
5. Become more aware.
Next
time you find yourself procrastinating, make a note of it.
What
was it that triggered that behavior to happen?
Getting
to the root cause of our procrastination can be the first step towards beating
it for good.
6. Get a work partner.
Accountability.
It's
one of the most powerful productivity forces.
Get
an accountability partner.
It
could be your friend or even someone on the internet.
7. Live a 24-Hour Life.
When
we look at our lofty goals from afar, they can be daunting.
Start
thinking about the small steps you can take each day to progress.
Macro
goals, micro-actions.
